About us
We are a process oriented niche architectural studio that constantly experiments with diverse building materials, techniques and ideas. We attempt to create designs that are unique and tailored to meet the aspirations of our clients while keeping core values of sustainability.Sharanya Iyer, our principal architect leads thought processes, With over 20 years of experience, and diverse exposure to different scales and typologies from high-rise buildings in the US, China & Korea, to earth centric practices and historic conservation in the US and India. She is a LEED AP (BD+C) Since 2009 and GRIHA certified since 2011, Having worked with the more formal sustainability certification formats, the choice to get into hands on passive design and building with local material was a key decision that led to the setting up of Studio Verge in 2013. It was started with the idea of bringing data and analysis based sustainable design modelling into smaller scale built forms, since most climatic modelling currently is reserved for larger scale, high budget, corporate projects based on cost limitations. The practice focuses on informed passive design, with or without certification as the parameter. We constantly push forth the idea that everyday living is possible in an earth friendly building without compromising on the inhabitant’s current lifestyle or contemporary design aesthetics.
