Design for her is a process of self-discovery, an opportunity to be spontaneous and to explore new ideas, unique options, and design solutions that are inclusive of the users, creators, and builders in all processes. She is passionate about creating sustainable design solutions that will be a benchmark to enhance everyday living conditions and the physical and emotional health of occupants.
Her Journey
With over 15 yrs of experience, Sharanya’s work is informed by her diverse professional experiences, from coordinating stakeholder lead urban interventions in Tirupati as part of a UNDP initiative to working on large-scale mixed-use projects in China & South Korea as part of John Portman & Associates and High-end hospitality interiors as part of Phillipe Stark's team at Bergman Walls & Associates, Las Vegas USA.
Sharanya established Studio Verge in 2013 and under her leadership, the practice has expanded to include Master Plans and Urban Design Projects for prestigious clients such as INTACH, the Government of Karnataka, and the Infosys Foundation. She works closely with her team to design and execute projects that are built based on the themes of sustainability, climate-responsive architecture, and earth architecture. She has in-depth knowledge about the various techniques used in earth architecture and has a dedicated team that incorporates the designs on-site.
Sharanya also enjoys teaching students as Visiting Professor Design and Jury Member at prestigious colleges BMSCE (2014-2019) and RVCA (2012-current), Bangalore.
